To the Elector Maximilian Franz, Bonn
Vienna, November 23, 1793

Anderson v1 ppg 12 - letter #8

Most worshipful, most excellent and most gracious
    Elector and Lord!

My sole endeavor is to render myself absolutely worthy of Your Electoral Excellency's highest favour. With this in view I have employed this year all the powers of my soul for the benefit of music in order to be able during the coming year to send to Your Electoral Excellency something that will reflect your magnanimous treatment of me and your sublime character in general more clearly than what is being sent to Your Electoral Excellency by Herr Haydn. In the confident hope that Your Eletoral Excellency will not deprive me of the favour you have once bestowed upon me I remain with the deepest reverence Your Electoral Excellency's most humble and most obedient
