Beethoven, now a paid organist in the Bonn Court since 1784 continued to explore musical composition, having published his first work WoO 63, along with his first three piano sonatas.

Support for his expanding talent continued.

At home, Beethoven's father Johann - now a chronic alcoholic - was frequently absent, while his mother held the household together.
